Vodafone announces Mobility-as-a-Service for enterprise customers
Vodafone's easy-to-use mobile device management enables companies to manage and secure mobile fleet themselves.
16 June 2010 – Today, Vodafone Netherlands announces a new additional service for its enterprise customers, Mobility-as-a-Service. With this vital add-on to its enterprise portfolio, Vodafone Netherlands offers enterprise customers a simple solution for the central configuration, security and operational management of all mobile devices. The new management platform is a crucial part of the Vodafone Mobile Exchange service for enterprise customers, offering a simple and centrally controlled solution for the administration and security of all mobile devices in a changing market place.
Vodafone Netherlands is able to offer this online self-service through close cooperation with third parties Veliq and Sybase. The Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) management service from Veliq is based on the Mobility Platform from Sybase. These components combined with the support of Vodafone Netherlands, offer a robust solution for companies to manage their entire fleet of mobile devices, thus maximizing their employees' productivity.
Jens Schulte-Bockum, CEO of Vodafone Netherlands: “With the increase of mobile working, more and more employees will use a mix of company and private devices during working hours. The management and security of a wide range of devices becomes therefore business critical. A centrally managed tool, catering for all needs in managing a fleet of mobile devices against low costs, offers the best solution for this increasing need.”
The new mobile device management platform forms an integral part of the Vodafone Mobile Exchange proposition. It offers Vodafone customers extensive support of a wide choice in mobile devices, including iPhones, iPads, Nokia devices and devices based on Windows and Android. In view of the high popularity of such widely applicable devices, Vodafone's new management service now offers customers the opportunity to respond to the latest user needs, whilst at the same time securing access to business information. To raise awareness about the easy-to-use mobility management tool, the joint venture partners will organize The National Phone Show in the near future.
The mobile device management service is based on the MobiDM online portal from Veliq and uses the market-leading Afaria technology from Sybase to automate all routine management tasks for all the important mobile operating systems:
- Mobile device management for device management; company settings; upgrades and software distribution; application management; email management; cost management and monitoring user experiences.
- Mobile security for mandatory access codes, definition of 'blocking/cleaning up' guidelines; encryption of devices and data cards; roll-out of firewall and antivirus applications and management of mobile access to corporate applications..
