Enabling enterprise customers via Milcom resellers to self-manage and secure their smartphone fleet through Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) Device Management solution
Milcom, a Value Adding Distributor of mobile handsets and mobility services based in Denmark, and Veliq, trade name of VeiligMobiel, European specialists in Mobility-as-a-Service, today announced their exclusive cooperation in Denmark and Norway to offer mobile security and device management as a managed service – MobiDM – to enterprise customers via resellers of Milcom.
MobiDM, the Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solution from Veliq, is powered by Sybase’s leading device management platform, Afaria. MobiDM offers enterprise customers an easy to deploy, self service, web-based console to manage and secure their mobile fleet of smartphones. MobiDM supports Symbian S60 V3, Windows Mobile Standard and Professional, iPhone 3.0, iPad and Win32. The main MobiDM functionalities contain:
• Configuration and control
• Software and application distribution
• Back-up and recovery
• Securing data by encryption and kill pill
• Monitoring voice and data usage (cost control)
• Location based services (locator service)
”MobiDM as a Hosted Device Management solution is the natural choice for Milcom – and highly value-adding for our existing Afaria Device Management business, which until now, we have supplied as an in-house or ”Behind the Firewall” solution.”
“In 2009, Milcom acquired the Mobility software supplier, HandStep – the leading market player in Sybase products and particularly Afaria, OneBridge, and MobileOffice – with an extensive customer base and product knowledge.”
“There was a demand in the market for a Hosted Device Management solution which will make the well-known features from Afaria available to smaller businesses with few mobile workers. MobiDM is this missing piece in the marketplace, which now lets us meet Device Management and Security needs of businesses with anything from 5 to 100,000+ mobile workers.”
“The user-interface gives even non-technical employees access to configuration, administration, and security of devices – whether they use the self-service access or leave it to the administrators.”
“Furthermore, MobiDM covers all the normal smartphone OS platforms on the market, even iPhones, and before the end of the summer of 2010 the Android platform will be added as well.”
“We are now very close to a ”One Fits All” mobility solution”, says Kenny Larsen, Executive Vice President at Milcom.
“Our customers notice that labour shifts from the traditional office work space to mobile devices, and current employees are bringing their own devices. E-mail is becoming standard, and we have really entered the mobile application era. The fragmentation of mobile OS with multiple application requirements puts tremendous pressure on organisations. To manage these mobility demands effectively, MobiDM has proven to be very successful. MobiDM enables organisations to manage their mobile fleet instantly and remotely, increasing business productivity and supporting end users at the same time“, says Alex Bausch, CEO of MobiDM.
“Selling mobility solutions is not easy and requires profound understanding of the needs of enterprise customers and the skill to explain the benefits of this new way of working. In every international market we search for leading mobility partners that know their market, have clear strategies on how to enter and capture the market and are capable of inspiring and leading the enterprise customers with regards to mobility. We are very happy to have identified Milcom as our exclusive partner for Denmark and Norway. Their commitment, knowledge, professionalism, and drive will ensure a successful roll out of MobiDM.”
